As a leading expert on China, she has participated in various media interviews and panel discussions, including appearances on the BBC, Sky News, CCTV, CGTN, People’s Daily, and China Daily. In 2014, she was invited to speak at the United Nations General Assembly on “Science, Technology, and Innovation for Developing Countries.” In 2015, she was personally appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to the “Ten-member Advisory Group on Technology Facilitation Mechanism for Sustainable Development Goals,” becoming the only academic representative globally. She was also appointed to the board of the United Nations “Technology Bank” by the UN Secretary-General and is a member of the Leadership Council of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, led by Jeffrey Sachs. In 2017, she received the Best Paper Award from the European Academy of Management (EURAM) for the Innovation Strategy Interest Group.
