As a leading expert on China, she has participated in various media interviews and panel discussions, including appearances on the BBC, Sky News, CCTV, CGTN, People’s Daily, and China Daily. In 2014, she was invited to speak at the United Nations General Assembly on “Science, Technology, and Innovation for Developing Countries.” In 2015, she was personally appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to the “Ten-member Advisory Group on Technology Facilitation Mechanism for Sustainable Development Goals,” becoming the only academic representative globally. She was also appointed to the board of the United Nations “Technology Bank” by the UN Secretary-General and is a member of the Leadership Council of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, led by Jeffrey Sachs. In 2017, she received the Best Paper Award from the European Academy of Management (EURAM) for the Innovation Strategy Interest Group. In 2018, she received the Best Journal Paper Award from the European International Business Academy. In 2019, she was awarded the CFA Asia-Pacific Research Exchange Award by the CFA Institute. In 2021, she was honored with the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough Award. She has served as an advisor to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UN Conference on Trade and Development, UN Industrial Development Organization, World Bank, OECD, European Commission, International Labour Organization, Commonwealth Secretariat, UK Trade and Investment Agency, and the Chinese Government. She has also been a consulting expert for the OECD Global Investment Forum and the UK Department for International Development / UK Economic Research Council Economic Growth Board (DEGP). Additionally, she served as the President of the China Economic Association (Europe) and the China Economic Association (UK) from 2010 to 2011.
